A little about us  >

A little about Gretchen... Some of you may know that I got into birth education by way of The Bradley Method(R) classes that I took once during my first pregnancy in 2002 and again in 2004 with my second. I strongly believe that the education I got through those classes improved my birth and led me to discover the world of gentle birth. I eventually went on to study with The Academy of Husband Coached Childbirth(R) to become certified as a Bradley Method(r) educator in 2006 and taught classes for 5 years. In 2010, I joined Brio Birth to gain freedom to teach material that I knew was essential to natural childbirth success. Today I share a combination of what I've learned over the years.

Through teaching birth education, I discovered a very important need that was not being filled for new moms, Postpartum Support. I learned about placentophagy and placenta encapsulation. In December 2009 I completed my training and in June Certified with Placenta Benefits Ltd, bringing encapsulation to the Treasure Valley for the first time. Did people look at me like I was crazy? In the beginning maybe, but things have really changed over the years.

I absolutely love doing this! I love hearing about each birth story and about each woman's recovery from birth getting back to 'feeling like herself' again. I look forward to hearing your story too...

A little about Tami....I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Gretchen and families with a new baby.  I worked for 14 1/2 years at a hospital, evaluating and helping people experiencing psychiatric crises. There were many moms dealing with postpartum depression and psychosis.  Psychotropic medications have many side effects (for both mom & baby) and do not always work.  The hormones that are created during pregnancy are a perfect match for the new mom.  I am excited to be part of a proactive, natural process.  I truly enjoy hearing how much the capsules have helped and offering support to families during a wonderful, yet overwhelming, time of transition.
